Following this tweak, it is surely only a matter of time before teams outside the top six start to feel his wrath again too. When that happens, Kane may even begin to look over his shoulder — he certainly could not move to Bayern Munich safe in the knowledge that his Premier League tally was safe, with Salah showing no signs of slowing down just yet.
But there was a sub-narrative playing out too. While Liverpool and Tottenham both had their reasons for wanting the three points, there was also an individual battle between Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane, two of the Premier League’s foremost goalscorers over the last few seasons.

Of course, it is still important to score against the ‘lesser’ teams. Liverpool have been made acutely aware of that this season, showcasing a frustrating habit of following up big wins with toothless displays against sides they sho 欧冠竞彩官方 uld be beating. But Salah looks on track to end his career at Anfield as the all-time greatest scourge on the big six, which would be a fitting tribute to his talents.

Salah has looked lethal once again since his reinvention as a more central striker. The fact he was still given that kind of role against Spurs, despite both Darwin Núñez and Roberto Firmino starting, was clear proof that this latest Jürgen Klopp innovation is here to stay.
Remarkably, all three of Salah’s favourite opponents are from the big six: he has scored more goals against Spurs than anyone else, followed by Manchester United and Manchester City. By comparison, Kane has had the most joy against Leicester and Everton, with Arsenal the only big side in his top three.
Salah has won the Golden Boot award three times since moving to the league. Kane has just one in that time, having won it back-to-back in the two seasons before Liverpool signed their Egyptian King. Meanwhile, the Spurs man is of course also gunning for the overall Premier League record, with Alan Shearer a further 66 goals down the road.
Kane may be leading the way in the overall scoring charts, having had 90 extra games to find the net, but Salah has already overtaken him when it comes to scoring in this particular mini-league of fixtures. It has still perhaps slipped under the radar a bit, but Liverpool have the ultimate man for the big occasion on their roster.
Liverpool did not need any extra incentive for their trip to Spurs. Looking to put a woeful run of away form to bed, and knowing that a defeat at the hands of another contender would be a body blow to hopes of Champions League qualification, the stakes were already high enough.

But even if it transpires that Salah arrived in the Premier League too late to chase down some of the all-time top records, his astonishing feats at Liverpool have earned him multiple entries in the annals. The Egyptian King is well on the way to adding Vanquisher of the Big Six to his growing list of titles, having already left Kane in his wake.

With his two goals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Salah moved onto 44 all-time goals against the big six. He is almost halfway to a century exclusively against Spurs, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal. Despite playing in nine more of these fixtures, Kane has six fewer goals.
Currently, that is an honour held by Sergio Agüero. But he, too, had a headstart on Salah. The former Manchester City man retired on a tally of 54 goals against the big six, a mark he hit in 98 games. Liverpool’s number 11 moved within 10 of this haul at the weekend, having played 20 fewer matches — he seems destined to ultimately claim the record.
The two talismans ultimately dictated the contes 欧冠竞彩推荐 t. It ended 2-1, and Salah and Kane shared all three goals between them, courtesy of three excellent finishes. Nobody could claim to be especially surprised.

However, when it comes to this season, it was a relatively rare haul for Salah. In fact, by netting a brace, he swelled his existing Premier League tally for the season by half. More curiously still, of those six goals he has now scored, four have come against the so-called ‘big six’.
